Born on 10 April 1920 in Ros\u00e1rio, in the municipality of Lagoa, he stepped away from his studies in Technical Engineering to devote himself entirely to music and culture, leaving behind a true artistic treasure.<\/p>\n
He was a celebrated author of scores and songs for Azorean revista<\/i> theatre, composed for Victor Cruz, and served as the musical director for the production \u201cA\u00e7orian\u00edssimo,\u201d which toured the Azores and Azorean diaspora communities in North America. As the leader of the \u201cTe\u00f3filo Fraz\u00e3o Orchestra,\u201d he directed prominent figures of the S\u00e3o Miguel music scene for years, including Jo\u00e3o Manuel Raposo, Ant\u00f3nio Augusto de Jesus, and Durval Martins. Later, he became the musical director for the grand balls at the Coliseu Micaelense.<\/p>\n
Te\u00f3filo Fraz\u00e3o was also the author of the official arrangement for the Anthem of the Azores<\/b>. He adapted the original melody in 1979, a version legally adopted by the Regional Parliament and first performed publicly in 1984 during an official ceremony attended by the President of the Regional Government and other authorities.<\/p>\n
Deeply connected to his folk roots, Te\u00f3filo Fraz\u00e3o defined an era, always offering humility, availability, and commitment to every initiative proposed to him. He never faltered in the meticulous care and refinement he brought to his musical interpretations.<\/p>\n
His musical career was also the subject of an episode of the series M\u00e1scaras da M\u00fasica<\/i>, produced by RTP A\u00e7ores in 1998, which gathered contributions from regional musicians and highlighted his lasting influence on Azorean culture.<\/p>\n
Even in his final years, he maintained a regular presence as a pianist at the Hotel A\u00e7ores Atl\u00e2ntico, a testament to his immense musical talent.<\/p>\n
