After completing his initial studies in Ponta Delgada at the Antero de Quental Secondary School, and with the intention of continuing his father&#8217;s business, he moved to Germany, where he graduated in Milling Engineering. Upon returning to Ponta Delgada, he dedicated himself to <i data-path-to-node=\"2\" data-index-in-node=\"543\">Moagem Micaelense<\/i>, successfully navigating the economic crisis of the late 1920s and early 1930s.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"3\">Alongside his brothers, he continued the firm <i data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"46\">Nicolau de Sousa Lima<\/i> and the <i data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"76\">Sociedade A\u00e7oriana de Sab\u00f5es<\/i> (Azorean Soap Company) in Lagoa, serving as Chairman of the Board until his passing.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4\">Director of <i data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"12\">Banco Micaelense<\/i> in 1949, he held the position of President of the General Assembly of the then Trade Guild (Gr\u00e9mio do Com\u00e9rcio) and served as a councillor for the Ponta Delgada Municipal Council. He was also a founding member of the Lions Club of Ponta Delgada.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\">On 15 November 1954, he was decorated with the 2nd Class Medal from the Belgian Ministry of Labour. In 1982, he was named &#8220;Industrialist of the Year&#8221; by the newspaper <i data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"167\">Correio dos A\u00e7ores<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6\">In 1983, during a visit to Ponta Delgada, he received the insignia of Grand Officer of the Order of Industrial Merit from the President of the Republic, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ant%C3%B3nio_Ramalho_Eanes\">Ramalho Eanes<\/a><\/span> a just recognition of his work and the importance of his companies within the context of the Azorean economy.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\">Since 2007, his name has been part of the toponymy of the Ponta Delgada Business Park: <i data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"87\">Azores Parque<\/i>. His significance to the regional economic development is also remembered through <i data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"183\">Rua Engenheiro Rolando de Sousa Lima<\/i> in Ponta Delgada, which runs through the <i data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"261\">Azores Parque<\/i>, one of the island&#8217;s primary business hubs and home to many enterprises that drive the local economy today.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8\">His funeral took place following a requiem mass at the Chapel of Sant\u2019Anna in Ponta Delgada, proceeding to the S\u00e3o Joaquim Cemetery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Born in Ponta Delgada on 25 November 1911, he was the son of Nicolau de Sousa Lima, an enterprising man who had acquired and developed a wholesale and grocery warehouse in the centre of Ponta Delgada, as well as establishing Moagem Micaelense (Micaelense Milling).
