Jacinto Fernandes Gil Júnior, 3rd Viscount of Porto FormosoJacinto Fernandes Gil Júnior, widower of Clementina Tavares Fernandes Gil, passed away on 6 May 1983, at the Clínica do Bom Jesus in Ponta Delgada, at the age of 79.

Born in Ponta Delgada on 30 September 1903, he belonged to a distinguished and traditional family from the island of São Miguel. He held the title of 3rd Viscount of Porto Formoso, a noble title created by decree on 26 January 1871 by King D. Luís I in favour of his grandfather, Jacinto Fernandes Gil, 1st Viscount of Porto Formoso, a prominent figure in 19th-century Azorean society and economy.

He played a significant role in the development and modernisation of farming in São Miguel.

Between 1939 and 1973, he served as President of the Casa do Povo do Livramento, an institution he was a primary driving force behind. He held this presidency for over three decades, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to the social and community life of the parish. Throughout his life, he also held positions in various organisations and associations related to agriculture and livestock, distinguishing himself through his sense of responsibility, dedication, and practical expertise in the agricultural sector.

His funeral took place at the São Joaquim Municipal Cemetery, following a Requiem Mass celebrated at the chapel of the Clínica do Bom Jesus in Ponta Delgada.
